Ketchikan Fishing
This area of southeast Alaska is famous for its fishing. There are fishing lodges and resorts throughout the area. Good fishing spots range from the coast, to streams, lakes, bays and inlets.Half-day and longer charters and skiff rentals are available out of Ketchikan.
Before the First Salmon Feast, the Kwakiutl offered this prayer:
O Supernatural
Ones!
O Swimmers!
I thank you
that you are willing
to come to us.
Protect us from danger
so that nothing evil
may happen
to us when we eat you.
There
are two king salmon derbies, a silver salmon derby and a halibut derby in
the summer. Other fish include steelhead, Dolly Varden, cutthroat and rainbow
trout.Shellfish include dungeness crab and shrimp. For information, contact
